Tsushima's Neo site enters a new stage - Genba Newsletter December issue

◆ Neo land moves to a new stage, with rapid progress towards opening of Yellow Cabin

The concerns that had surfaced four years ago regarding the Neo site were completely resolved in March of this year. The huts that emerged during this process are now being maintained at a rapid pace.

We are still in the process of making full use of it from next year, but we will report on it. As a related project to this highway project, we are currently considering operating it as a ``place of relaxation for Tsushima citizens and a place for supporters and on-site observers to interact.'' Please send us your ideas for utilization.

The Neo site facing the east coast of Tsushima was initially considered as an exploration pit for the main tunnel route of the Japan-Korea Tunnel. This route was originally proposed to go to Busan, South Korea, but was scrapped due to concerns about the weak geological conditions of the ocean floor east of Busan. Since then, no concrete plan for land use has been formulated.

The site is located on a slightly elevated slope, and the sun rises brightly over the sea between three small islands called Chichijima, Hahajima, and Kojima. People taking walks pause for a while to take in the cool morning air.

This is the moment when the island turns red and trembles at the beginning of a new day. It overlooks Okinoshima Island and the Japanese mainland to the east, making it one of the most scenic locations in Tsushima. It is located right in the middle of the national highway that connects the administrative center and the shopping center, and it is a place where you can feel the future of Tsushima, close to the Tokai region. Cherry blossom trees are scheduled to be planted early next year on the slope behind the site.

Neo wakes up from a 30-year slumber and emerges with a new mission in this project in Tsushima. Located between Japan and the Korean Peninsula, Tsushima is more than just a transit point; it is a place that opens the door to the future. We look forward to using it in the future.
