Completed work on tensioning the Iki survey inclined shaft - May issue of site news

Iki survey sloping shaft opening work completed

In preparation for the opening of the Iki research slope tunnel scheduled for October 2017, we have been working with the Japan-Korea Tunnel Technical Committee to discuss the construction plan for the tunnel entrance, and now that we have finalized the outline of the plan, we are finally ready to begin work on site. In preparation for the start of the actual construction work, on-site surveying and stakeout work (work to determine the exact location of the building before construction begins) was carried out over two days on May 4th and 5th.

This time, a drone equipped with a camera was also introduced to make the process more efficient. Visibility was severely restricted at the site, which had large elevation differences and was surrounded by windbreak forests, but by checking the entire terrain from above using a drone, the work could be carried out more accurately and more quickly. Once the entrance to the survey tunnel is completed, it will be possible to incorporate videos from drones into the promotional video.

Fortunately, we were blessed with good weather, and the work progressed smoothly, and within the scheduled two days, the construction work was completed, and the locations of the entrance to the survey tunnel and the temporary road were determined. On the second day, a meeting was held to discuss specific future construction plans, and it was decided that temporary road work would be carried out in July and tunnel entrance work would be carried out in September, in preparation for the opening ceremony in October.

If the investigation slope entrance is completed in Iki, it will be the third such entrance after Karatsu and Tsushima, and by confirming the three main bases of the route on the Japanese side, it will have great significance for the realization of the Japan-Korea tunnel in the future. It will be done.
