Trimming of miscellaneous trees completed - Genba Newsletter December issue

◆ Tree clearing at the Iki site has been completed, and construction
of the slope shaft base is moving ahead It was conducted for three days by three people including Director Iki. Although we did not have to fight bees and ants like we did in the summer, we were able to clear the trees with a chainsaw and pruning smoothly, despite fighting against the cold strong winds and light snow blowing in from the Tsushima Strait. Completed. It is now possible to get a bird's-eye view of the entire site, and even the cars passing by on the prefectural road. By the end of the day, the rays of the sun peeking out from between the clouds brightened the grounds.

It is hard to see from the road because the trees are left for environmental conservation and soundproofing purposes.

As a result, we have moved beyond the rough blueprint stage to the stage of surveying and determining the layout of the mine entrance, workers' roads, site office, parking lot, etc. The site is in the form of five terraces, and a site map shows that work vehicles can enter through an entrance easily accessible from the general prefectural road, a site office will be built on the second stage, the mine entrance will be next, and waste will be buried at the lowest point. Now you can imagine it.

After clearing the trees, surveying will begin next year in preparation for the construction of the exploration shaft, which will be used for the Nagoya Shaft in Karatsu, which has already been excavated to a depth of 600m, and the Aren Shaft in Tsushima, for which the opening ceremony was held in September of this year. Next, the three diagonal shaft bases on the Japanese side become visible. By connecting "dots to lines," we have finally entered the stage where this project can be shown not only to Japan and Korea, but also to Asia and the world. The Japan-Korea Tunnel will transmit concrete measures for world peace from Far East Asia to the world.

The Iki site had been prepared from an early stage, but due to the order of construction, maintenance was carried out last, so the site was overgrown with trees. After completing this work, Chairman Oe said, ``Now, 20,000 tsubo of Iki slope base has been completed.Including 60,000 tsubo of Karatsu base and 300,000 tsubo of Tsushima base, the foundation of the Japan-Korea tunnel of about 400,000 tsubo has been completed. It's completed,'' he said, looking forward to full-scale development starting next year.
