50 South Korean reporters inspect the Japan-Korea tunnel - Newsletter from the field October issue

A 50-member Jeollanam-do press group inspects the Japan-Korea Tunnel Karatsu site

On October 22nd, a group of 50 reporters from South Korea's Jeollanam Province inspected the site of the Japan-Korea Tunnel Karatsu Nagoya Diagonal.

A group of 39 members from the Korean media industry visited in August of this year, and after interacting with Japanese experts in Tokyo, they returned home feeling a positive response. Furthermore, this time, reporters who are active on the front lines of news reporting in South Jeolla Province in southwestern South Korea visited the scene.

After watching a DVD made mainly from the site visit and broadcast by South Korean television station MBC five years ago, he gave a brief overview of the Japan-Korea tunnel. In the question and answer session that followed, we asked, ``Japan is experiencing a big earthquake, but is the Japan-Korea tunnel safe?'' ``The map in front of us doesn't have Dokdo, why is it not there?'' ``Tsushima is Japanese territory, so first of all, "Why not build a tunnel all the way to Tsushima? A Japan-Korea tunnel will be a possibility after that," were some opinions. Given the growing interest in the Japan-Korea Tunnel in South Korea, I felt that I went into the inspection with quite a bit of prior knowledge.

Afterwards, we entered the inclined tunnel in three carts and went to the face to observe the progress of the tunnel. The newly created information board for Koreans had explanations in Hangul, which made it easy for them to get a sense of the place.
