■Ashibe Inclined Shaft, Iki With the roadway in place, surveying is finally underway for the installation of the shaft entrance
. Work on clearing the dense forest and building a road at the planned site of the Ashibe Inclined Shaft in Iki took place from July 29th to August 2nd. Clearing and building a road on the 30,000 square meter site that had become densely forested over the course of 40 years has now come to a close. It is now finally possible to drive around the site in a light truck.
After cutting down brushwood to the width of the road (5-6m), we created a road by using a brush cutter to grab bamboo roots, sawing away tree stumps, and cutting away the roots of large trees with a chainsaw. We also collected stones and laid them down on the uneven slopes, then carried soil in a wheelbarrow to fill it in, creating a gentle slope that light trucks can go up and down. After six months of hard work, we are finally able to drive a light truck around the site of the planned Iki Ashibe Incline Shaft. This means that the Technical Committee can now carry out on-site surveys, measurements, and draw up a plan for the Iki Ashibe Incline Shaft Base. The Technical Committee will finally begin surveying in mid-August.

Turning left from the back center leads to the upper level of the proposed mine entrance site.
