I would like to offer my congratulations and gratitude as an editor on the publication of the first issue of International Highway News.

The idea of an international highway and a Japan-Korea tunnel was proposed by Reverend Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the entire Unification Movement, when the 10th ICUS (International Conference on the Unity of Science) was held in Seoul, Korea in November 1981. Following Reverend Sun Myung Moon's proposal, the International Highway Construction Corporation was established in April 1982 under the leadership of Chairman Osami Kuboki and Chairman Gentaro Kajikuri.

Then, in January 2009, the International Highway Foundation was established under the leadership of Chairman Kajikuri Gentaro, with myself, Tokuno, as chairman, and we were able to make a fresh start by inheriting the functions of the International Highway Construction Agency as a general incorporated foundation.

First, I would like to introduce five representative approaches to realizing world peace taken by its proponent, Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

The first is the realization of world peace through the sharing of common values and ideas based on true love.

The core spirit and philosophy of these shared values and ideas can be expressed in the following three points. The first is the idea or philosophy of coexistence and co-prosperity, "living together." The second is the idea or philosophy of "living for others," and the third is the idea or philosophy of "loving even your enemies."

The second approach to realizing world peace is to realize world peace by encouraging international marriage, which will connect the world with true love, life, and lineage.

Through international marriages between young men and women from countries that have historically been enemies, the two countries can become like relatives, and by having common descendants, the two countries can form blood ties and become relatives, creating an international environment in which they naturally feel no desire to wage war again. Reverend Sun Myung Moon advocated this as one of the shortcuts to realizing world peace.

The third approach to realizing world peace is to avoid the tragedy of war caused by religious conflict and achieve world peace through inter-religious reconciliation, harmony, and solidarity.

To put it another way, it is the realization of world peace through an inter-religious and inter-denominational harmony movement. A prime example of this is the Middle East Peace Initiative (MEPI), advocated by Reverend Sun Myung Moon. Leaders of the three major religions that have historically been in conflict in the Middle East - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - have come together to lead more than 50 conferences, rallies, and peace marches for Middle East peace over the 10 years since 2003.

The fourth approach to realizing world peace is to strengthen the alliances of liberal nations to build an anti-Communist encirclement, and eventually peacefully unite the Communist world and even the Communist bloc.

For example, as a specific example, Reverend Moon argued that in East Asia, Japan, South Korea, and the United States, which share common values and political systems such as liberalism, democracy, and capitalism, will become completely united, and that they will eventually peacefully unite China, which is still under a communist dictatorship, and North Korea, a hereditary communist state. He argued that this is the basic plan for peace and development in East Asia.

The fifth approach to realizing world peace is the proposal for realizing this international highway, the Japan-Korea Tunnel.

Connecting the world with roads will stimulate the exchange of people, goods, and culture, promote the standardization of technology and industry in Asia, and eventually expand this to a global level - this is Reverend Sun Myung Moon's vision for the realization of an international highway and a Japan-Korea tunnel. Simply put, roads are the arteries of life that serve as the pillars of distribution networks, and by connecting the entire world with these roads, we can transcend the walls of national borders and national interests and achieve world peace.

Reverend Moon's vision can be succinctly expressed in the following three titles: (1) "The international highway is one effective means of achieving the ideals of mankind," (2) "The vision of the international highway is to connect the homelands of the East and the West," or (3) "The international highway project is to create a high-speed transportation network that will unite the people of the world." With these expressions, Reverend Sun Myung Moon proposed the greatest and greatest dream project in human history as early as November 1981.

Let us inherit this great dream project of Reverend Sun Myung Moon and realize the Japan-Korea Tunnel by 2030 at the latest.
