An interview with Koichi Yokota, Secretary General of the Japan-Korea Tunnel Promotion National Conference, was published in the April 21, 2021 edition of the Business Journal.

In 2008, a Japan-Korea summit meeting was held between Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo and President Lee Myung-bak, and as a result, a report on the Japan-Korea New Era Joint Research Project was published in 2010. That year marked the 100th anniversary of the Japan-Korea Annexation in 1910. The report made 21 recommendations, one of which was the promotion of an undersea tunnel. This recommendation holds great significance.
