We would like to extend our best wishes for the New Year.
Last year marked the 70th anniversary of the end of the war and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea. I am pleased that Japan, South Korea, and the United States have been able to jointly embark on a new, future-oriented era. I hope that this year will be the year in which the Japan-Korea Tunnel Construction project will be brought into the spotlight as a symbolic joint project for peace and development in Asia and the world.
Last year, following on from Karatsu and Tsushima, our foundation prepared the construction site in Iki and began preparations for the opening of the entrance to the Iki Exploration Inclined Shaft. We are determined to work hard to ensure that the International Highway/Japan-Korea Tunnel Project becomes a national project for both Japan and Korea by 2020.
We would like to ask for your continued guidance and support this year as well.
