Japan-Korea-Japan Tunnel Inspection Team Visits Busan

A welcoming ceremony for the Kanagawa Prefecture Korea-Japan tunnel inspection team's visit to Busan was held on April 15 at the Busan Family Federation headquarters.

The inspection team consisted of 20 people, including Makoto Kunimatsu, a member of the Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly, three city council members, and Toru Gyobu, the 6th district mayor. This inspection team consists of leaders who have made great efforts to realize the Korea-Japan Tunnel through local Liberal Democratic Party Diet members and others.

 

At the welcome ceremony in the Busan area, Lee Yong-hoon, chairman of the Korea-Japan Tunnel Research Association, Seo Yi-taek, chairman of Dongmyeong University, Lee Jang-ho, former chairman of Busan Bank Holding Company, and Park Won-yang, chairman of Sanmi Construction, attended the welcoming ceremony. Lee Yong, former chairman of the Busan Metropolitan City Council, Kang Moo-gil, a member of the Busan Metropolitan City Council, Seo Se-wook, representative of the Thursday Academic Society, Lee Jeong-chul, former vice president of Bukyung University, Ryu Jeong-woo, secretary general of the Korea-Japan Tunnel Study Group, and Lee Dong-wook, Bukyung. More than 50 people attended, including university professor emeritus, Kang Kyung-sik, chairman of the Busan Peace Ambassadors Council, Kim Hyun-jeong, head of the Busan diocese, and peace ambassadors.

 

The welcome ceremony included welcome speeches by Lee Yong-hoon and Seo Yi-taek, co-representatives of the Korea-Japan Tunnel Study Group, words of encouragement from Kim Hyun-jong, head of the Busan diocese, and speeches from Kanagawa prefectural assembly member Makoto Kunimatsu and 6th district mayor Gyobu Toru. The event consisted of sisterhood bonding, gift exchange, and commemorative photo shoots. At this occasion, Kang Kyung-sik, chairman of the Busan Council, presented the peace ambassador badge to the visiting delegation on behalf of South Korea.

 

The inspection team reaffirmed the importance of constructing the Korea-Japan Tunnel through visits to Busan, which is the starting and ending point of the Korea-Japan Tunnel, and Tsushima, a transit point, and met with stakeholders in the Busan area to discuss the realization of the Korea-Japan Tunnel. He is determined to work hard to restore Korea-Japan relations.

 

The exchange of observation teams between South Korea and Japan is progressing to the level of a national movement for peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia.
