From Tsushima's Neo Land to Japan-Korea Exchange - Site Report January Issue

Neo site enters a new phase: From the opening of Yellow Cabin to Japan-Korea exchange

Happy New Year to everyone! We have an update on the Neo site. The cabin is currently in the process of being furnished. You can enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, barbecues, sea fishing, sea kayaking, mountain climbing, cycling, and stargazing.

Summer schools for junior and senior high school students, horse therapy as a form of recuperation, forest bathing and wood stoves to soothe the soul provide a moment to heal the pain of a competitive society and a rapidly growing internet society. The center has a mission to serve as a place for youth development, a place of rest for middle-aged and elderly people, as well as a place for Japan-Korea exchange.

While Japan-Korea relations currently see little progress in exchanges, it would be undesirable for either country to continue in this state of antagonism forever. Tsushima, which has looked upon both Japan and Korea, holds the key to a solution. It is precisely because Tsushima is a border island with a rich and intimate history of relations that it can present a new stage for Japan-Korea relations. We are starting now by discussing and deepening our bonds while sitting around a wood stove that produces a warm, quietly burning flame.

Construction on the Japan-Korea Tunnel is proceeding slowly, as if waiting for Japan and Korea to become true friendly nations, but it is steadily progressing. In a small cabin, a concrete peace-building proposal, the "International Highway," is currently being enthusiastically discussed.
