An article was published in the February 1, 2021 edition of Yonhap News stating that the leader of South Korea's largest opposition party is considering building an undersea tunnel connecting the country to Kyushu.

Kim Jong-in, chairman of the emergency response committee of South Korea's largest opposition party, the People Power Party, said at a committee meeting on the 1st that he actively supports the construction of a new airport on Gadeok Island off the coast of Busan in the southeast, and revealed that he would also consider building an undersea tunnel connecting Gadeok Island with Kyushu.
